It's Snowing Inside My Head

I haven't posted anything all day. I was working, then had to attend a graduation party. Ate some good food, and returned home to someone asking me to please post an update. So here I am.

Snow in Mexico is a band I discovered awhile back in the blogosphere, added into my itunes, and let it sit there for awhile before actually paying attention, and when I finally did listen it was like hearing frost melt oh so very slowly. It's a beautiful sound. The band is made up of two people who are from somewhere in Italy, and frankly I love their name for reasons I have yet to understand or really think about.

They have a self-titled EP which I believe can be downloaded for free off of their website. It's some very mellow stuff, a bit on the quiet side, and soothing. I enjoyed their short, but very sweet EP to the utmost degree, and I highly recommend it. Then again it might not be for everyone, but I'll let you decide. I am hoping they actually release a full album, but who knows if this will ever happen.

Snow in Mexico- Velvet. This is one of the tracks off the EP, and if you enjoy this the rest are equally haunting, and I mean that in the most pleasant way possible.

Simple post. A remix of a track by Ellie Goulding (pictured above). She's from Wales. She actually has a very good voice, and you should check out her myspace. I'd say she's like a mix of indie electro, and I can see this track being bumped at numerous summer parties.

Emil Is My Friend

Emil & Friends is the love child of a very talented 23 year old musician/producer who's name is apparently Emil. I still can't figure out if it's just one guy, two guys, or one guy and his numerous friends. Either way the official myspace looks like it was created by someone on drugs, but maybe that is the point.

He has an EP called Downed Economy floating around out there somewhere. Emil & Friends remind me of a very mellow MGMT. I find myself listening to the music, kicking back, and relaxing. Its overall good stuff. Oh, and he does remixes too.

Emil & Friends- The Shrine. I love this song.

Emil & Friends- Electric Feel (MGMT Cover). I'll be honest I am not crazy about this cover, but here it is either way.

Little Boots-New in Town (Emil & Friends Remix). This remix is excellent in my opinion.

Im gonna take you out tonight
Im gonna make you feel alright
I dont have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I dont have a penny
But I'll show you a good time

A Bit of Turbo Love

The Lakers, so far, are looking good for the win. Let's hope they close this one out. To all the haters out there, keep hating. In the meantime as I await the hopeful Laker victory here is some more music.

Apparently there is a remix EP of the Bag Raider's Turbo Love with remixes from various talents. Shinichi Osawa is one of these talents and he has crafted a truly banging remix of an already banging track. Check it out.

Bag Raiders- Turbo Love (Shinichi Osawa Remix)

Also I know the internet has spread Phoenix like wildfire, but I am going to throw this song out there anyhow. This is danceable pop music at its best. I'll probably post some more Phoenix stuff later on.

Phoenix- 1901

Weird.

So I mentioned Toy Story 3 last night. I wake up this morning and strangely enough, the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 has appeared on the internet. Its like I have a sixth sense or something, but not really. I took some snapshots of the teaser for you. I love Pixar, and who doesn't love Toy Story 1 and 2? In fact I can't wait to see UP, which looks and I hear is incredible.

Kings of Leon- On Call (Kings of Neon Remix). Here's a remix of Kings of Leon done by 2 producers who call themselves Kings of Neon. Oh, how clever!

Excuse Me, I Think The Word You're Searching For Is "Space Ranger"

Alright, let me just say that this song that Moby dropped last EDC has haunted me throughout the year. Every time I hear it I get goosebumps, flashbacks, and my eyes cross. This track ripped it so hard. I remember thousands of people with their hands in the air pumping their limbs as the track built up to its thunderous drop. Sweet Jesus it was fucking awesome.

The beat in discussion being by Guru Josh Project entitled Infinity 2008 Mix. I have had it on repeat for a little while now. I mean what is that in the beginning? It's sounds like horns calling us into a raging sea of people and lights. In the famous words of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. To Infinity and beyond!

Guru Josh Project- Infinity 2008

Oh which randomly reminds me. Toy Story 3 is coming.

There's One In All Of Us

That's the tag line on the poster for Spike Jonze's vision of the beloved children's book Where The Wild Things Are. Frankly I cannot wait for this movie, and the trailer does a good job of reaching for my inner child and ripping it straight to the front. I am loving the look of this movie.

If you have actually seen the trailer then you might or might not be wondering about the song that plays throughout. Well for those of you who know a thing or two you'll recognize it as Arcade Fire's Wake Up. I actually prefer this trailer version to the one that is on the album. I love the howls at the end. Simply brilliant.

And if you don't know anything about Arcade Fire well they hail from Canada, and well they're actually quite good. Check them out.

What an odd collection of people...

I Miss Steve Irwin

Australia gave birth to one of the baddest motherfuckers around and sadly as we all know he was killed. By a pissed off sting ray, but thats life. Anyhow yea, I miss the crocodile hunter aka Steve Irwin.

He was the shit. But that wasn't why I decided to post this morning. I actually wanted to share two other badass things that come from Australia and happen to be alive and kicking. I happen to be aware that in the blogosphere this information is incredibly old, and everyone, their mom, and the children already knows these names. But, I am sharing nonetheless because some of you aren't up to speed. So allow me.

The first is The Presets.

This is a duo that knows how to make some killer dance tracks. Again another group I hear puts on an amazing live show. If anyone of you were at Coachella they were there, as well as Ultra. They have two full albums Beams and Apocalypso, both incredibly rich, and full of tracks to get your swerve on, make babies, cook tuna casserole, or whatever else floats your boat. Check them out. I have provided you with two tracks to sample and caress.

The Presets- A New Sky. I simply love this track. It gets my feet shuffling every time.

Over and outside
And under
Over a new sky
I wonder

The Presets- Talk Like That

The second is the band Cut Copy. I have actually had the pleasure of seeing these guys live in Hollywood at the Music Box. They did not disappoint and sound absolutely amazing live. The show was awesome even though I was next to the most annoying girl in the whole world and it got shut down by the fire marshall early because of capacity, but thats a rant for another day.

Anyhow my point is these guys are sick. They have released two albums (if I am mistaken someone please correct me). Their latter album In Ghost Colours is probably one of my favorite albums ever and its great for any mood. They got enough sound variations running throughout 15 tracks to keep you satisfied.

Lights and Music are on my mind! Here are some samples.

Cut Copy- Future. This one is off their first album Bright Like Neon Love.

Cut Copy- Hearts on Fire. Listen for that sexy ass saxophone (at least I think it is?) in the latter part of the track as it erupts into something sublime.

Oh, and here is a remix track courtesy of their fellow brethren The Bag Raiders.

Cut Copy- Far Away (Bag Raiders Remix)

Pick The Daisy

I apologize for another post. Actually no I don't, but when I saw this I had a slight heart attack, fell over, and crapped my pants.

The Electronic Daisy Carnival aka EDC is one of the craziest dance events that occurs during the year. This will be my third EDC, and for the first time since it's conception EDC will be two days. Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th. Check out the individual lineups and choose your weapon. I highly recommend the second night.

Bring on the tunnel of death! All of you who have experienced EDC know what I am talking about. Although the sight that hits you after you pass through that tunnel words cannot describe. Well I lied, words can describe it, but they don't do it justice.

Pulled right off Moby's Myspace Bulletin as it is displayed on the EDC website.

"Without question one of the best and most impressive dance events I've ever been to"
-Moby July 01, 2008

If you are in Los Angeles during this time. Hit this event up and if you aren't comfortable with the word rave, well try telling yourself this, "It's just a giant concert. With many artists, and rides. Awesome rides."

I have goosebumps. I need to go now. Bye.

Bare Witness To Explosions In The Sky

I know, I know. This is my third post today, but I mean I just got a lot of stuff on my computer, and a lot of time to kill before the Laker game starts. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to one of the illest instrumental bands to have ever crossed my path aka Explosions In The Sky.

If you know of anyone better please feel free to shoot me an e-mail and educate me. These guys simply know how to portray vast emotions through some of the most beautiful sounds that have ever graced my ears. Rumor has it that these guys play an almost unrivaled live show, and I plan on seeing them sometime somewhere somehow. They are playing here in Los Angeles on the 27th, but unfortunately for me I had to choose between Explosions and the second night of EDC. Guess who won?

Here are three sample tracks for your listening pleasure. Sit back and relax and let these guys take you away. Herbal supplements recommended.

Explosions In The Sky- A Song For Our Fathers

Explosions In The Sky- Your Hand in Mine

Explosions In The Sky- Look Into The Air

Green Day

I am not a big fan of Green Day's new album 21st Century Breakdown. I've listened to the whole thing and it's alright. There are however a few tracks that I absolutely love. 21 Guns being my favorite of the bunch. I love Billie Joe Armstrong's lyrics in the song, they're pretty simple, but they really hit me hard.

Do you know what's worth fighting for
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take you breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weight out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins

Green Day- 21 Guns

The Bag Raiders Will Raid Your Brains

Bag Raiders is a group that hails from Australia aka The Land Down Under where you can find Kangaroos, and The Great Barrier Reef. These guys are serious. They need to release a full album because these EPs are simply not satisfying my ear drums and they are screaming for more. I mean the sounds that are executed here will get your panties twisted into a bunch (in a good way of course). Check them out. They also have a bunch of sick remixes floating around. Big word up to my boy Dom, who actually turned me onto these guys. Peep game.

Bag Raiders- Sneaky Dub

Bag Raiders- Shooting Star

Super Mal- Bigger Than Big (Bag Raiders Remix)

To Hell With Gravity I Say!

Just a Band is an electro group that hails from somewhere in France. They have just dropped their third EP titled To Hell With Gravity
while banging out crazy beats from their lair somewhere under the Eiffel Tower. The latter obviously being a poor attempt at a joke. Either way these guys don't mess around. Check all three EPs out if you can. Some real nasty stuff going on right here. Lord, my head keeps bouncing. Release a full length CD already dammit!

Who is Miike Snow?

I remember coming across the name Miike Snow in the blogosphere awhile back. At the time I simply ignored it, but I somehow stumbled across their CD recently and I must say... WOW, which led me to ask the following question.

Who is Miike Snow?

and the answer is...

Miike Snow is a strange individual who as it turns out isn't an individual at all, but a band that consists of Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg (two Swedish musicians), and Andrew Wyatt (an American Musician). This trio has churned out some musical genius with their self titled album. I am telling you check it out. This is the jam of the summer. The music is laid back, layered, and simply delicious.

Highly Recommended!

Below you will find the track ANIMAL off of their CD.

Miike Snow- Animal

Oh, and a little bonus for you. A remix of Animals done by Treasure Fingers
